DEVELOPMENT PRIORITY: ENDOWMENT FOR RESEARCH WORKSHOPS

In 2005, the Humanities Center launched an ambitious three-year campaign to provide permanent endowment for its highly successful research workshops. Thanks to the generosity of friends and former fellows, the Center is now halfway towards meeting its fundraising goal of $1.4 million.

We invite you to help us make the final stretch towards providing a secure future for the workshops’ innovative and collaborative contributions to humanities research. All gifts count towards The Stanford Challenge, the University campaign.

About the Workshops

More than a third of Stanford’s humanities faculty, and almost half of the humanities graduate students—as well as scholars from other local institutions—participate in the Center’s seventeen research workshops to explore topics of common intellectual concern. The workshops not only advance individual research, but also provide critical professional training for graduate students and enhance undergraduate curricula through joint problem-solving and open discussion. Matching Opportunities

The Center has received two matching grants to help provide permanent endowment for the research workshops. This means that your gift will be generously leveraged while matching funds remain:

Each dollar given in support of this campaign will become $2.50

Special Matching Opportunity for Former Fellows
Peter Bing ('55), a longtime Stanford trustee and good friend of the Center, challenges all former fellows to fund an endowed research workshop named their honor. $50,000 in gifts from former fellows will receive a 1:1 match from Peter Bing to achieve the $100,000 necessary to name the Former Fellows Workshop.
