7th Annual Center for Immersive & Simulation-based Learning (CISL) Symposium

Please join the Center for Immersive and Simulation-based Learning (CISL) for the 7th Annual CISL Symposium, which will be held on November 12th, 2014 at the Li Ka Shing Center for Learning & Knowledge (LKSC) on the ground floor in LK005. This year we are happy to present Richard Snyder, MD as our keynote speaker. The presentation is titled: "Power Up Your Teaching of ACGME Communication and Interpersonal Skills with Techniques from Business and Performing Arts"
Rich and his colleague Rebecca Stockley will be leading an afternoon workshop applying the techniques discussed in the keynote. If you are interested in the afternoon session, seating is very limited as this session will be highly interactive. The session title and objectives are listed below: "Let's do it ! Hands on Improv Acting and Behavior Design Workshop for Teaching Communication in Healthcare"--Practice and apply exercises from Medical Improv that can both enhance clinician communication, teamwork, and leadership; and also serve as learning session openers.--Practice and apply Behavior Design methods from the Stanford Persuasive Tech Lab to increase learner's use of class insights in their real clinical work.--Discuss incorporation of Medical Improv and Behavior Design methods in your teaching.Additionally, many of our colleagues will be presenting their work via the Ignite format (5 minutes, 20 slides). Come hear the interesting work and keynote during the morning session. If you are not interested in the workshop there is another afternoon workshop that focuses on Technology and DIY Simulation. Google glasses, 3D printing, tips and tricks for inking to develop a flipped classroom session, Oculus Rift, and mannequin moulage. There is something for everyone and I encourage to block out November 12th and join us. For more info and registration go to http://cisl.stanford.edu or contact Michelle Otis at motis@stanford.edu
