Marta Sutton Weeks Distinguished Visitor

Wolf Lepenies is a German sociologist, Rector of the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin, and author of "Between Literature and Science" (Cambridge University Press, 1988), a study of tensions between literature and the emergent social sciences in nineteenth-century Germany, England, and France. Professor Lepenies gave a public lecture on Beatrice Webb and led two colloquia on John Stuart Mill, Aguste Comte, and science and poetry in German ideology.
