Lawrence Levine is the Margaret Byrne Professor of History Emeritus, UC Berkeley, and Professor of Cultural Studies and History, George Mason University. Levine is a recognized authority on American social history and African American history and is presently completing a book responding to right-wing attacks on new directions in historical research and writing.
