Bruno Latour has been a vanguard figure in the newly emergent field of "science studies," in which researchers us the methods of the social and human sciences to understand how humans go about their scientific work and how scientific knowledge is created. In his talk, he called on scholars to adopt new approaches to criticism that develop, rather than debunk, things and ideas, and that deal "with matters of concern, not matters of fact."
