“Maghrebi Secularism” Roundtable will take place on November 8, 2012 in the Board Room at Stanford Humanities Center. Focusing on Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, Prof. Susan Miller (University of California, Davis), Dr. Marie-Pierre Ulloa (Stanford University), and Ahmed Benchemsi (Stanford University) will reflect on the different forms secularism takes in the Maghreb as well as the models of secularism that inform the Maghrebi politics and culture. Prof. Vincent Barletta (Stanford University) will moderate the session.
The session is organized as part of our program’s Maghrebi Studies Initiative which brings prominent scholars and practitioners to Stanford campus to speak about history, culture, and politics of Maghreb.
