Anthony Bogues: "And What About the Human? Freedom, Human Emancipation, and the Radical Imagination"
Thursday February 16, 2012 | 03:30 -05:30 PM | Humanities Center Levinthal Hall

Marta Sutton Weeks Distinguished Visitor

This talk will explore the notion that there is a distinct difference between emancipation and freedom. Working through an argument that the question of the human is not just an ethical nor moral one, but rather political, the talk will argue that to think about freedom today is to think about the meaning of the human. It will suggest that issues of freedom are deeply related to the work of the imagination.
