Probabilistic models formalize scientific theories in fields such as linguistics and psychology. This talk introduces Church, a universal language for such models. Drawing from his work in psychology and artificial intelligence, Andreas Stuhlmüller will motivate the use of probabilistic programming in science and engineering and describe examples of applications.
