Film Screening: Crossing the Bridge (2005)

Crossing the Bridge (2005) is the story of award-winning Turkish-German director Fatih Akin’s journey through the diverse music scene of Istanbul.  Aware that this topic requires an expert in music, Akin engaged “Einstürzende Neubauten” singer Alexander Hacke to help explore the vibrant cultural scene of the Turkish megacity that bridges two continents and the traditional divide between east and west. The result is a versatile picture of Istanbul’s rich musical culture and recent history that destroys stereotypes in lieu of a vibrant portrait of music, art, and passion.
