Imagining the Universe: Dr. Mae Jemison

Dr. Mae Jemison is a physician and NASA-astronaut. She became the first African-American woman to travel in space when she went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor on September 12, 1992. Dr. Jemison will speak at Stanford University on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 as a part of the Imagining the Universe: Cosmology in Art and Science programmatic series.

The cosmos has long inspired our imaginations ― fueling research, reflection, and creative response. Organized by an interdisciplinary consortium drawing on departments and programs from across the university, this year-long project reflects Stanford University’s commitment to campus-wide connections among the sciences and arts.
