Music Presents: Séverine Ballon, cello

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Contemporary cello specialist Séverine Ballon presents new music for solo cello, electronics, and video, written by Stanford composers. Séverine is a member of both Elision Ensemble (Australia) and Multilatérale (Paris). Her work focuses on key works of the cello repertoire, as well as collaborations with composers; in addition, her research as an improviser has helped her to extend the sonic and technical resources of her instrument. She regularly gives masterclasses for composers at Harvard University, the Hochschule für Musik (Stuttgart), the University of Huddersfield (UK), the University of California Berkeley, and the Tzlil Meudcan Festival and Summer Course (Israel). In 2008-2009, she was resident artist at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart). Thanks to the Harvard French Scholarship Fund and an Arthur Sachs grant, she will be a fellow at Harvard University during 2014-15.
