Second Sundays for Families--Cantor Arts Center

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Second Sundays is a free, family-focused day of art talks, hands-on art making, and gallery adventures for visitors of all ages. No registration or standing in line is required, and families can tailor their museum experience based on the activities that interest them the most. Second Sundays occurs on the second Sunday of each month from 11 am to 4 pm.

Second Sundays occurs on the second Sunday of each month from 11 am to 4 pm
Highlights include:

Spotlights: Explore art objects in the galleries with a docent, at 12, 1, 2, and 3 pm. Spotlights emphasize the role of adults as learning partners with children and encourage inspiration and art making in the Drop-in Studio.

Drop-in Studio: Experiment with art materials and new techniques by participating in a hands-on art making experience, from 11am to 4 pm. All visitors, regardless of age, ability, or familiarity with the creative process, are encouraged to participate. Registration is not required and visitors can work at their own pace.

Art Packs: Check out an Art Pack that includes themed activities for visitors of all ages and materials for sketching while visiting the galleries.

Highlights Guide for Families: Explore the museum at your own pace with a little help from a curated list of family-friendly highlights in the museum collection.

Every Day (except Tuesday)
The Cantor offers additional opportunities for families every day that the museum is open (Wednesday through Monday). Art packs for drawing in the galleries are always available, and there are many things to see and do outdoors. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon enjoying works by French sculptor Auguste Rodin in the Cantor’s Rodin Sculpture Garden, or explore Stone River, a spectacular outdoor sculpture by Andy Goldsworthy.

Family programming at the Cantor is made possible through the generous support of Bank of the West.
