Thursday Nights at the Anderson: Artist Talk: Morelab

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Morelab’s Groove Grove is currently installed on the grounds of the Anderson Collection. Based in Oakland, California, Morelab creates innovative artworks, installations and experiences that examine our understanding of the social, political and ecological dynamics of public space. Founded in 2013 by Matthew Passmore, the original founder of the Rebar Art & Design Studio (“Rebar”), Morelab works with cultural institutions, government agencies and private entities to enhance the quality, character and understanding of the public realm.

This fall, Morelab will conduct a series of social furniture exploration and prototyping workshops with Stanford students across varied disciplines. Using cheap and off-the-shelf materials, participants in the workshop will explore the areas around the Anderson Collection building, and develop a series of social furniture prototypes that invite collaboration, informal social interaction, experimentation and play.
