To help fellows find the information and resources they need here on campus and in the community, the Center has put together a Fellows' Manual that is updated each year. Please consult this manual for information on the fellowship program, Center and university policies, and resources for computing, housing, and family services.
If the Fellows' Manual cannot answer your questions, please feel free to be in touch with our Fellowship Administrator, Robert Barrick.

Visit Stanford's welcome page at http://www.stanford.edu/home/welcome/ to learn about academics, research, and a wide range of campus activities at Stanford.
Stanford's WorkLife Office assists members of the Stanford community towards reaching a balance between their work, study, personal, and family lives. It offers consultations, resources and referral services, publications, a library, seminars and group activities. The office provides comprehensive information on childcare in the area, as well as public and private schools. You may call 650-723-3660 for an appointment if you need advice on accredited childcare centers in the area.
N.B. Waiting lists for Stanford childcare centers are often long. We strongly recommend that you register your child early in order to increase your chances of successful enrollment by the time you arrive in the fall.
The Center has two clusters of computers for fellows' use. Each is connected to a printer, and to the larger Stanford network, providing access to email and the Internet. The Center also supports wireless access to the Internet.
The Humanities Center does not provide computers for individual fellows. If you choose to bring your own computer, technical requirements and recommendations may be found at http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss or in the Fellows' Manual. Computers may be purchased at the Stanford Bookstore. External Fellows receive a discounted price by showing their Visiting Scholar cards. Faculty and students also receive a discount.
The Humanities Center has contracted for an ITSS consultant to be available on Thursday afternoons (a sign up sheet is posted in the hallway outside of Watt). You can also receive computer help by submitting your request online at the ITSS website, https://remedy-prod.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/helpsu2.
Stanford's Community Housing Services office provides online listings of housing close to campus. Their website is located at www.stanford.edu/dept/hds/chs . The Fellowship Administrator will provide access information to incoming fellows since this site is restricted to Stanford affiliates. The Palo Alto Weekly and Craigslists are also excellent sources of housing leads.
