Documentary Screening of 'The Seven Doors' Highlights International Visitors Program

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the International Visitors Program. Since 2009, some 60 international visitors—from 29 countries and representing over 50 institutions—have come to Stanford through the joint partnership of the Humanities Center and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI).

To honor the anniversary of the program, the Center hosted a special event on March 5, 2019: the world premiere screening of a documentary, The Seven Doors, by Mehmet Kurt, who was the 2018-19 Christopher Family International Visitor in residence for the month of March. The film follows seven students in eastern Turkey who strive to liberate themselves intellectually from the stifling constraints of the rote learning at their university.
