Valeria Kivelson is a professor of history at the University of Michigan, where she specializes in medieval and early modern Russia. Her interests include issues of cartography, religion, and witchcraft. She received her doctoral degree at Stanford University. We will discuss a section of Professor Kivelson's upcoming book on maps in Siberia and Russian ways of understanding space in the eastern expanse of the empire.
