Art, Equity, and Inequity: A Talk by Andrea Fraser with Response by Shannon Jackson

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Noted performance artist Andrea Fraser speaks about her work as an ongoing investigation of what we want from art. Fraser, Professor of New Genres in the Department of Art at the University of California, Los Angeles, explores the motivations that drive artists, collectors, art dealers, and corporate sponsors: from the pursuit of prestige to financial investment, from sexual fantasy to personal fulfillment. Shannon Jackson, Goldman Professor of Rhetoric and of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies at UC-Berkeley, where she is also Director of the Arts Research Center, will join Fraser in conversation.
