About the speaker:

Michael Shanks is Professor of Classics and Archaeology at Stanford University.  His current research interests include design thinking and history, Greco-Roman urbanism, and the archaeology of the English-Scottish borders.  Among his publications are The Classical Archaeology of Greece: Experiences of the Discipline (1996), Art and the Early Greek State (1999), and The Archaeological Imagination (2012).
