We will meet at 5.30 for dinner. Patricia Blessing will give a short background sketch of her work, followed by questions and discussion.

Patricia is a professor of Art History at Pomona College. Her doctorate was in Art and Archaeology from Princeton. Her research specialities include Islamic art, architecture, and the arts of the medieval Mediterranean. Her book Rebuilding Anatolia after the Mongol Conquest: Islamic Architecture in the Lands of Rūm, 1240–1330, investigates the relationship between patronage, politics and architectural style after the integration of the region into the Mongol empire. Her current projects focus on medieval Anatolia, early Ottoman architecture, materiality and the relationship between architectural decoration and textiles.
