We will meet at 5:30 for dinner. Then Professor Izzo will give a short background sketch of his work, followed by questions and discussion.

Jesse Izzo is a medieval historian focusing on the Mediterranean World, the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, and the Crusades. He received his PhD from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2016. He joined the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies as a Visiting Scholar in 2019. His projects includes a book on the Franks and Mamluks: Diplomacy, Politics, and War in Egypt and Syria, c.1250-1291 based on his dissertation manuscript, and an article entitled "The Angevins and the Nobility of Frankish Syria, 1277-1286" for the journal Crusades.
