Date and Time:

Meeting Location:
Humanities Center Boardroom
Workshop:
Ethics and Politics, Ancient and Modern
Meeting Description:

All EPAM sessions are pre-read. We will begin with a brief summary of the paper and comments by a graduate student, followed by a response from Professor ChristopherBobonich. Afterward, the floor will be opened for questions.

In this paper, Professor Bobonich considers the connection for Plato between practical rationality and promoting the good. He considers practical rationality as embodied in, among other things, principles for the lawgiver’s establishment of a constitution and the Demiurge’s ordering of the universe.

Christopher Bobonich is the Clarence Irving Lewis Professor of Philosophy. He works on topics in Greek ethics, political theory, psychology and related issues in epistemology and metaphysics.
