This workshop focuses on a key topic in new media: the politics of presence. Notions of presence hinge on the relationship between the live and the mediated, on notions of immediacy, authenticity, and originality. An aspect of presence is representation—both artistic and political representation. At the heart of presence are politics and the polis. This workshop brings together faculty and graduate students to investigate how new media alter our experience of presence in all its ramifications.
« Research workshops provide participants with excellent opportunities for networking with scholars in their field.
