Not only do many people in the world live in conditions of appalling poverty, but many live under cruel and oppressive regimes. This workshop proposes to examine questions of global justice. These questions include: What obligations, if any, do we have to aid such people? What responsibilities do we share for the decisions taken by both representative and non-representative global institutions that affect the well-being of individuals? And what are the most appropriate responses to these conditions?
Different answers to these questions have practical as well as theoretical implications for contemporary debates about globalization, protectionism, human rights, immigration, and development aid. The workshop on Global Justice will explore these issues from both an empirical and theoretical perspective by drawing on expertise from across the disciplines.
« The workshops provide a highly dynamic forum for intellectual exchange.
