This workshop reconceives the study of minority literature and culture in the context of social diversity. A goal of the workshop is to contribute to the ongoing reconfiguration of American literary studies by situating the concerns of "minority" authors within a hemispheric and global context. Discussions will move beyond conventional notions of the constructedness of identity and knowledge in order to render detailed accounts of the materiality of constructed identities as they are lived, felt, and related to natural resources and social processes.
