Graduate Student:
- Mike Benveniste (English)
This workshop will seek to understand the social function and status of the contemporary novel. Fictional texts from the past three decades will be read along with other print publications (newspapers, magazines, etc.). Placing contemporary works of fiction in their historical and cultural context will allow a better understanding of how these works engage in the social sphere with issues like gender, identity, ethics, politics, and cultural memory.
« Research workshops provide participants with excellent opportunities for networking with scholars in their field.
