Greek and Latin literature has been translated and transformed in many different ways with many different agendas through the centuries. In this workshop we aim to ask big questions about the translation of cultures, through a specific focus on Greek lyric poetry, including Sappho and the tragic chorus, and Latin epic poetry. The workshop will bring together a wide range of scholars with expertise in classical, English and Italian literature, drama and opera, alongside published poets and translators. It will provide food for thought for anyone interested in translation studies and reception studies and will offer rich opportunities for inter-disciplinary synergy.
