This workshop tackles the dynamics of translation and the transformation of texts and ideas, focusing on the translations and transformations of Greek and Latin texts from antiquity to the present day. Translation is defined here as the process which makes cultural signifiers (words, symbols, gestures, etc.) meaningful across the boundaries of language and society. The workshop seeks to understand how common ground can be found across national and linguistic boundaries, while acknowledging the importance of cultural distinctiveness.
« Research workshops provide participants with excellent opportunities for networking with scholars in their field.
