Chantal Nadeau is Professor in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Her work centers on the ways that desire, sexuality, and identity are bound up with the legal and political imaginary of the nation. Author of Fur Nation (2001), her work has also appeared in journals such as GLQ, Multitudes, Screen, and Journal of Communication Studies. She recently coedited a special issue of GLQ, “Queering the Middle: Sexual Diasporas, Race, and a Queer Midwest,” and is currently working on a book project in which she examines how the nexus of queer politics, nationalist discourses, and the logics of immunity shift through various invocations of courage.
