Philippe Marlière is Professor of French and European Politics at University College London. He was a researcher at Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), wrote his PhD dissertation on the collective memory of French Socialism at the European University Institute (Italy), and was awarded the Marcel Liebman Chair in Political Science by the Université libre de Bruxelles in 2007. He mainly researches and publishes on the Socialist Party and the Left Front in France, European social democracy, and French republicanism and political ideologies. His opinion articles have been published in the Guardian, Mediapart, and Regards. He recently published (with Liêm Hoang Ngoc) La Gauche ne doit pas mourir! Manifeste des socialistes affligés (2014).
