Thomas Harrison

Thomas Harrison is Chair of the Department of Italian at UCLA. He is the author of Essayism: Conrad, Musil and Pirandello and of 1910: The Emancipation of Dissonance, a transdisciplinary study of expressionist aesthetics and ethics in the first decades of the 20th century in Europe as illustrated by the essays of the young Lukács, the music of Arnold Schoenberg, the paintings of Kandinsky, Schiele and Kokoschka, the poetry of Rilke and Trakl, and the speculative writings of Carlo Michelstaedter.
