Art Talk with Joe Oliveira - A Perspective on His Father's Windhover Journey

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Five paintings from Nathan Oliveira’s renowned Windhover series hang in Stanford’s contemplative center of the same name. The works of art were inspired by kestrels swooping above the Stanford foothills. Oliveira, a Stanford Professor of Studio Arts for more than 30 years, felt the calming power of these works and believed they should hang together in a place set aside for contemplation.

Come meet Joe Oliveira, son of the Windhover artist Nathan Oliveira, for a personal perspective and tour of Windhover. He has served as managing director of NJO, Inc. and the Nathan Oliveira studio since 2004. In 2011, he was instrumental in securing the Windhover collection for the contemplative center project, which was nearly two decades in the making.

This talk is open to Stanford staff and faculty. Stanford ID card required for check-in.
