The Boren Scholarship provides funding to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.

The Scholarship is designed to help prepare American students to enter professional life with more than a traditional knowledge of a foreign language and culture; acquire cross-cultural understanding and a global outlook; and enhance career and leadership opportunities in all fields including business, government, education, science and technology. The award is for a period of one semester or one academic year and includes $8,000 for a summer program (special initiative for STEM students only; 8 weeks minimum), $10,000 for a semester, and $20,000 for a full academic year.

About the Boren Fellowship - The fellowships encourage graduate students to pursue specialization in area and language study or to add an important international dimension to their education.  The award provides up to $24,000 for a maximum of 12 months.
