CLAS Lecture Series: "Latinos Living in a Mobile Park Home in Palo Alto"

In this presentation Prof. Padilla will discuss what it is like for nearly 400 low-income residents most of whom are Latinos, including 125 children, living in a mobile park home in Palo Alto.  In the fall of 2012 the owner announced his intention to close the park and since then the community has mobilized to fight the park closure and to preserve their homes, jobs, and education for their children.  The discussion will be as much a status report of the current situation at Buena Vista as it will be a conversation of being poor in a very wealthy community.
Speaker: Amado Padilla, Professor, Stanford Graduate School of Education.
