Façade

This is an Archive of a Past Event

Façade records twelve hours of October 28, 2016 at the Mission Santa Clara de Asis on the campus of Santa Clara University. Santa Clara Mission was founded in 1777, but was heavily restored in 1928. Filmed from a fixed camera from just before dawn to just after dusk, the five screens of Façade play the same film on asynchronous loops. Each loop begins at a different time of day, such that at any given time Façade presents the the Mission in five different conditions. The installation provides the chance to view the Mission in real time, but also to see the dramatic change the day brings to the static building.

Façade was organized by Lora Webb and Danny Smith

This exhibition was made possible by the generous support of Professor Bissera Pentcheva and the Department of Art and Art History, Stanford University.
