Film Screening: Cary Fukunaga's "Sin Nombre" (2009)

This is an Archive of a Past Event

This road movie is filmed on the back of the "beast," the trains that carry migrants from Central America across Mexico towards the US border. The film weaves the stories of two protagonists: Sayra, a young Honduran girl trying to reach her family in New Jersey, and a young gang member recruited to rob passengers riding north on top of the freight cars. Romance counterbalances horror, risk, and devastation in the extraordinary debut feature from the director of HBO's True Detective.

This film screening is part of the DLCL Fall 2014 Film Series, "On The Road." Learn more about the series, and see a complete list of screenings here.
