Miko Peled will speak about issues related to his book, The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine. (first published in 2012; 2nd edition with a foreword by Alice Walker 2016). Peled, who was born into the Israeli political and military elite, has lectured around the world to promote justice, democracy, and equal rights for Palestinians and Israelis. A video of one of his lectures has received over 2.7 million views. He holds a sixth degree black belt in karate and until recently taught in his dojo in Coronado, California. The title of Miko Peled’s book refers to his father, the late Gen. Matti Peled, a member of the Israeli army general staff during the 1967 war. Gen. Peled retired from the army in 1969 and became one of the founders and eventually chair of the Department of Arabic Literature at Tel Aviv University and a tireless peace activist for the rest of his life.
