Lecture: "Pool Parlors and Beat Cops: The Colorful Noise of a Jacob Lawrence Street Scene"

Nate Sloan, Geballe Dissertation Fellow at the Stanford Humanities Center, will discuss jazz music and the sounds and rhythms of the street in the context of the Harlem Renaissance. His talk will draw connections to Jacob Lawrence's street and subway scenes from Promised Land: Jacob Lawrence at the Cantor.
