Shenson Recital Series: Jesse Blumberg, baritone, and Martin Katz, piano

Jesse Blumberg, baritone, and Martin Katz, piano, perform Butterworth's A Shropshire Lad, Schumann's Liederkreis, Ravel's Histoires naturelles, and selected songs of Ives.
Baritone Jesse Blumberg is equally at home on opera, concert, and recital stages, performing repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque to the 20th and 21st centuries. His 2014-2015 season included a European concert tour with Boston Early Music Festival, a U.S. concert tour with Apollo’s Fire, and debuts with Atlanta Opera and Hawaii Opera Theatre.
Martin Katz has been dubbed "the gold standard of accompanists" by The New York Times. His 45-year career has taken him to five continents, collaborating with the world's most celebrated singers in recital and recording. Katz is also active as a conductor and editor. He has led opera productions for San Francisco's Merola program, the BBC, and Tokyo's NHK. His editions of Baroque and bel canto operas have been performed in Houston, Ottawa, and at the Metropolitan Opera. Currently Earl V. Moore Collegiate Professor in Music at University of Michigan, Mr. Katz has chaired their program in collaborative piano for more than three decades and coached vocal repertoire for singers and pianists alike.
The Shenson Series is generously supported by the Ben and A. Jess Shenson Fund at Stanford University.
