Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble: Following the Diaspora - From Africa to Stateside

The Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble presents a special evening of music that traces the path of Latin music from West Africa, through Central and South America and into the United States. The program includes pieces from the religious folkloric traditions of Santeríaand Candomblé, the traditional forms of the Danzón and Son Montuno, and finally Latin-tinged renditions of R&B, Funk, Rock, and Bebop from artists such as Ray Charles, Bill Withers, Dizzy Gillespie, and the Eagles.
