In the flurry of local and state laws addressing immigration over the past decade, legislation has shifted from the Arizona-type laws that encourage "self-deportation" to California-style laws that promote immigrant integration.  Ramakrishnan and Gulasekaram discuss this evolving era of immigration federalism and which laws prove effective and why.
