Julia Fine is a PhD Student in the Department of History. She holds an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies from the University of Cambridge, where she researched the environmental and labor history of salt production in Bengal, and an AB from Harvard University. Her current research focuses on food industrialization and environmental degradation in the British Empire. Her work has been recognized by the American Society of Environmental History, the World History Association, and the Association for the Study of Food and Society, and she is currently a Knight-Hennessy Scholar.
