Martha “Mattie” Bekink

Mattie is the China Director for The Economist Corporate Network (ECN). ECN is part of The Economist Intelligence Unit, the research and analysis arm of The Economist Group. ECN provides global, regional, and sectoral business intelligence research, briefings, presentations, and advice to members and clients. Prior to joining The Economist Group, Mattie was President of Martha J. Bekink Consulting, providing tailored advisory services to clients drawing on the disciplines of law, communications, and business development. She also served as the Executive Director of the Fulbright Commission in the Netherlands. Previous positions include serving as the Deputy Country Director, China Program, for the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative and as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

Mattie received her JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA in International Relations from Stanford University. She is fluent in both Chinese and Dutch.
