Matt Warner

Associate Director, Stanford Literary Lab

Matt Warner received his PhD from Stanford University in 2024. Matt studies the intersection of computational methods and queer theory, exploring how historical queer investments in enumerative practices like bibliography can reshape the way we conceive of the core digital humanities practice of counting. Current research projects include a study of the representation of queer characters in young adult fiction and a computational exploration of the history of topic, subject and "aboutness" in literary criticism. Matt teaches classes on literary text mining and queer literary theory and history and is one of the Associate Directors of the Stanford Literary Lab for 2024-25.
