Natasha Patel

Workshop Co-chair
Critical Carceral Studies Collective

Natasha Patel is a PhD candidate in Political Science (Political Theory). She works on political ethics for highly aspirational social movements like Defund the Police and Prison Abolition. Her first in-progress paper is entitled, "The Abolitionist Ethic: Practicing Abolition in a Carceral World."  I hope the Critical Carceral Studies Collective can be a space to build community amongst people working against carceralism in the United States. My dream is that this workshop will allow people to meet, build relationships with one another, and take action together through research or politics. Outside of academia, I like to express myself through figurative sculpture, playing music, and painting beautiful colors.
