Uri Cohen

Uri S. Cohen is a professor of literature at Tel Aviv University, specializing in Hebrew and Italian literature. Cohen served on the faculty of Columbia University from 2004 to 2011 before moving to Tel Aviv. He is the author of several books and other projects, including a documentary film, Traces of Ida Fink (Jerusalem film festival, 2004). He is the author of Survival: Senses of Death between the World Wars in Italy and Palestine; The Poetics of Orly Castel Bloom; and The Security Style in Hebrew Literature. Lately he served on the jury of Beyond Borders film festival (Kastelorizzo). Cohen holds a PhD from the Hebrew University and is currently working on a counter-biographical study of Primo Levi and an introduction to high-tech for students of the humanities.

Cohen was nominated by the Taube Center for Jewish Studies.
