Please join us for the next Eurasian Empires workshop meeting of Winter Quarter 2024–2025. Alexa Russo will share a paper titled "Sustainable Pasts and Futures: Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Gendered Alterity in India."

The workshop will take place in person in the SHC Board Room. Dinner will be served at 5:15 p.m. There will be a hybrid component via Zoom for those interested in participating virtually. The Zoom link and chapter will be shared with the registrants ahead of the event.


 

About the Speaker

Alexa Russo

Alexa Russo is a PhD Candidate in the Anthropology department at Stanford University and currently holds a Steven and Debi Wisch Fellowship in South Asian Studies. Her work analyzes the many ways people in India imagine and seek to enact agrarian futures through sustainable agricultural practices and collectivization, and with women as key changemakers. Alexa conducted her fieldwork in Madhya Pradesh on a Fulbright Student Fellowship, with support from the Stanford King Center. Prior to Stanford, Alexa received an MSc in Gender (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2017 and a BA in Economics and Religion (with honors) from Amherst College in 2012.
