This is an Archive of a Past Event

Shot in Berlin between November 1978 and January 22, 1979, the contemporary setting of the action, this dark comedy follows an ineffectual cell of underground terrorists who plan to kidnap an industrialist. With a bitter and madcap perspective, Fassbinder tries to understand the violence of this complex phenomenon embodied by the RAF (in German, Rote Armee Fraktion), West Germany's most active and notorious left-wing terrorist organization.
