Fiber Optics is kicking off 2024–5 with an open house, showcasing our plant/fibers projects at the Farm. If you’re curious about our flax, colored cotton, or indigo plots; interested in planting/harvesting or processing fibers/natural dyes; learning how to spin/weave; want to crochet/knit/sew in community; have ideas for future fiber programming; or just want to enjoy food, drinks, and the cooler fall weather with us on the beautiful Farm, please stop by!
This is a casual, drop-in event for plant/fiber enthusiasts across campus to connect—we’d love to share our work from the past year, plans for this year, and learn about your interests, projects, and skills. Our very own Edi Dai will be demoing cotton handginning + spinning techniques; if you have a skill you would be willing to share and demo for the group, please let us know in the RSVP form. And help us spread the word!
Sponsored by the Stanford Humanities Center and made possible by support from an anonymous donor honoring the Directorship of former SHC Director John Bender, the Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities
