Eurasian Empires will be joined by Professor Kabir Tambar (Stanford), who will share a paper titled "The Loss of a Telos: The Politics of Friendship at the End of the Ottoman Empire.” Registration is required for receiving the paper and Zoom link, as well as to help us organize catering.
Kabir Tambar is an associate professor of anthropology at Stanford University. His research and teaching examine debates about secularism, minority recognition, and state violence primarily in Turkey and more broadly in Europe and the Middle East.
