We Were Here provides an innovative exploration of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Europe through art, culture, and social history. Shot across Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, England, the Netherlands, and Brazil, the film reinterprets Renaissance masterpieces to reveal the often-overlooked presence and contributions of Africans to European society.
